As early as the 17th century, the natural ressources from this indigenous ancestral fishing territory captured the Europeans’ attention. In 1603, Samuel de Champlain mentioned it was an excellent river for salmon fishing. In 2013, the dismantling of a former dam allowed the river to find back its original aspect and fishers to hope for miraculous captures as it used to offer.
