Today is the day! It’s a new start in every sense of the word. First, Mehdi, Gabrielle, David, Jacob, Sébastien and Anthony are embarking on a new adventure, away from civilization and hospitals. For the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation, we’re initiating a new expedition program. Contrary to our other trips, this one is shorter and is designed for youths undergoing treatment for cancer. Two years ago, we came up with the idea of creating a new program. No wonder everyone is rather nervous at the Poisson Blanc Reservoir in the Outaouais Region. Two nurses, Linda and Christiane, two logistics guides, Virginie and Mario, and Catherine and Michel, facilitators from the Foundation, accompany our group of adventurers.

This morning, we drove from Montreal to Ottawa, and continued on to our present location, the Air Eau Bois camp. Following the distribution of the equipment, we were initiated to paddling and took our first excursion on the lake on board our proud Rabaska, the huge canoe that will take us along our adventure. The day ended with some games and a wonderful group discussion. All of us can’t wait for tomorrow when we will leave our outdoor base camp to travel on the lake to our first camping night.
