The program for this week: the long-awaited dog-sled expedition in Algonquin Park and its preparation.
March 1st, 8 AM, most of the participants and facilitators from the Foundation have gathered in Montreal before leaving for Ontario.
As soon as they board the bus, bonds of friendship develop between participants. As they come from different places and have varying experiences, card games, laughter and jokes fuel the conversations.
Our groups numbers 11 young participants, one physician, one nurse, one psychoeducator, one photographer/writer, and the two facilitators from the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation. During our dogsled outing, experienced guides in this type of travelling will join us.
But for the moment, our main activity was travelling. To be honest, after eight hours on board a bus, the group was looking forward to our destination.
Well, we got there safely. And the atmosphere was simply wonderful. Everyone pitched in to carry the luggage to the rooms and after settling in, we congregated for some pizza.
We got to know each other through various activities. Don’t forget, both French and English are spoken here as our participants come from all over Canada. Anglos learn French and French learn English.
We will spend two days at Northridge Inn, a very comfy place and the group enjoys the accommodations.
Tomorrow will be our last night at the hotel before the official start of our dogsled adventure. We can’t wait for it to start!
