We have reached that point when we inevitably start thinking about what comes after. We have experienced so much over the past few days, several friendships have formed and the thought that this experience will soon come to an end is affecting many people in our group.

Tonight, Holley, Samy and I are cowriting this text, with Loïs and Élisabeth helping with the photos. It all started when we read our group journal. Today, Mya wrote something that deeply touched us. We cried together, and it allowed us to have a conversation about how precious this experience is and about the highlights of our day.

The first REALLY important thing we would like to tell you is that we had Nutella for breakfast and it was SO good!

If Nutella is considered important, our next announcement is exciting: we paddled through our first Class II rapid! The line was really clear and beautiful, and there were lots of waves, including one very big one at the end. The run went really well, and it was awesome!

After paddling a short distance, we arrived at our portage for the day. It is a 600 metre portage between two waterfalls. Along the way, there is a magnificent view. This is where we stop for lunch.

During the break, we are treated to a mini concert. We are huge fans of this band: Samy (ukulele pro), Marshall (lead singer), Annik (singer) and Ève-Marie (singer).

Loïs and Joel are improving a lot at solo portaging. The weather is beautiful and warm, and we are enjoying the scenery.

Tonight, we are setting up camp at the end of the portage. There is a natural pool at the site that is perfect for cooling off. Holley, Joel and Julien build a dam. Meanwhile, Mya, Ambila, Élisabeth, Loïs and Samy draw expedition memories on the rocks and on their skin.

Then, everyone sets up the tents and the kitchen. We feel a little like a family in which everyone has a very special place. Saying goodbye will not be easy because we have grown close. Mya expressed it beautifully in our group journal: “…because yes, it’s true, I call them my friends and also, I think I love them.”
