Expeditions

Diagnosis

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 15. I was still in treatment during the expedition. I had finished my chemotherapy a couple of months before the expedition and I started radiation therapy a few months after the expedition.

Why did you choose to take part in an expedition with the foundation?

After months of chemotherapy I was ready for an adventure and a chance to experience new things. I wanted to be in the great outdoors and try something new.

What were you fears or doubts before you jumped into the adventure?

I had fears about travelling across the country by myself and spending the expedition with people I had never met before.

What memories and benefits did you bring back home?

The expedition is something I hold very close to my heart. The experience of being off grid and so close to nature was the most healing and memorable experience I have ever had. The friends I made on this expedition are still close friends of mine to this day. The adventure was everything I needed and more.
