The On the Tip of the Toes Foundation team is pleased to welcome Marie-Camille Provencher. Marie-Camille will be a project manager and will work closely with Marie-Michelle on planning the expeditions and events of the Foundation.
Originally from Granby in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Marie-Camille dreamed when she was young of a career as a professional handball player. She went to France in order to put all the chances on her side for a sports career that was already very promising. That said, the call of the mountain was soon heard after several important experiments. At the age of 16, she went on a trip with her father to Aconcagua in Argentina and, a while later, to Bolivia for hiking.
At that time I felt that the mountains would always occupy an important place in my life and that it was unthinkable to continue practising an indoor sport depriving me of contact with nature.
The tranquility, the scents peculiar to each season and the absence of concrete are all good reasons for Marie-Camille to escape in nature. Having already taken part in an expedition as a guide for the Foundation has enabled her to experience a therapeutic adventure and to witness the benefits that it brings to the participants.
I enjoy being in touch with the participants and the expedition context allows us to create links more easily and to go beyond the surface of each individual.
Although the mountains are at the heart of Marie-Camille’s adventures, she is eager to leave on her first project with the Foundation as part of the Getaway expeditions in Voyageur canoes to be held in the Poisson Blanc Reservoir this fall. The fact of everyone being aboard the same boat allows a certain proximity often impossible for us to recreate on a daily basis.
Welcome Marie-Camille!
