Braving the Lake in Winter

The 12 km event is the perfect introduction to the CRYO Races. In this challenge, athletes must take on the unique experience of running in winter, in the dark, across the magnificent Lake Saint-Jean. Under a starry sky, with only the sound of their footsteps in the snow, participants are sure to live an unforgettable and immersive adventure.

KEY INFORMATION

  • The registration fee is $75, and a mandatory $500 fundraising is needed to take part in the race.
  • The race starts at the Ice Village in Roberval and ends at The Chalet and Spa Lac Saint-Jean site in Chambrod, as night falls.
  • Athletes will follow the same maintained and marked trail as those running the 32km.
  • Participants have a maximum of 2 hours to complete de course.
  • No selection criteria are required.

➡️ However, running on a frozen lake in the middle of winter, at nightfall, is a serious challenge not to be underestimated. It bears little resemblance to trail or road running in terms of physical effort and mental resilience. Weather conditions can also deteriorate quickly in the early evening, adding an extra layer of difficulty.

SUMMARY SCHEDULE

4:30 PM – Shuttle bus departure (please note that taking the shuttle is mandatory).
5:15 PM – 12 km race start
6:20 PM – First finishers expected
8:30 PM – Last finishers expected

Each participant is commited to raising $500 in donations for the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation, which changes the lives of young cancer patients by offering them the chance to take part in a therapeutic adventure expedition. Please note that fundraising is mandatory. Only participants who have completed 100% of their fundraising will be able to set off on February 24.

In all, a maximum of 100 people will have the chance to take up this challenge next February.

Are you ready to brave the night, the cold, the lake?
