Park our sleds, the discussion turns into a group sharing, as we go about our chores or participate in the activities organized by our organizers.

Tonight, we held our second sharing circle. Around the campfire, each participant shared about his or her experience to date and what they are most proud of. We were pleased to discover that every one of them just love the experience.

How time flies! Tomorrow will be our last night.

Each member of the team is now familiar with our daily routine. The more the adventure develops, the more relaxed we are.

Today’s program: leave our Wet Lake campsite and head for Craig campsite.

This morning, after some French toast and ham, we began packing. We picked up our stuff and loaded it on the sleds and covered them with plastic tarps. The next step was to harness the dog teams before heading for our second campside “Craig’s Camp”. From the first day on, the ease with which the youngsters are relating to the dogs is just wonderful. Many of them can now call the dogs by name.

We left around 9:30 AM. The weather was just wonderful. All day long, the sun was shining brightly under a deep blue sky. The sleds carried us over 20 kilometres today. Not as demanding as yesterday’s run, but simply fabulous. Probably the best we encountered yet. The run was a mixture of wonderful lazy loops under the sun, narrow passages in the forest and long, steep slopes. The long downhill sections were a challenge. We had to make maximum use of our brakes to keep our sleds under control. Despite what could be termed as a long stretch of 20 kilometres, we kept a good pace and we got to our new campsite in time to have lunch.

At Craig’s Camp, we tied the dogs next to the tents before eating a well-deserved sandwich. Each day at noon, we are treated to a hot drink with our lunch. Very comforting. Today, we had a choice of cinnamon-flavoured apple cider and hot chocolate.

As we had a hard day yesterday, our arrival at the campsite early in the afternoon had a positive effect on the group. We spent quality time outdoors while doing our daily chores. The sunrays provided much energy. Every one is healthy and performs well in their activities. The adventure guides just love our group. Seppe, our expedition leader, took some time to congratulate everyone for his or her efforts during the last few days. Our three guides find it so rewarding to see a happy group of young people work together to ensure everything is under control in our camp. No matter the task, we get optimum participation.

As we head down the trails on our sleds, we develop a strong relationship with our partner. During the day, the two of us share on our sleds as we talk about this and that. After we park our sleds, the discussion turns into a group sharing, as we go about our chores or participate in the activities organized by our organizers.
