The awakening of this third morning had something magical about it. To the soft notes of the ukulele and the enchanting voices of Marie-Michelle and Catherine, the camp slowly came to life. Despite the gray sky and humidity, a gentle energy floated through the air.

After a wonderful Mexican-inspired breakfast, the group gathered for an emotional sharing circle. Participants opened up about the losses that cancer had brought into their lives, but also about how this challenge had led them to redefine themselves. Their resilience commands admiration — it drives them to rebuild and shape a new version of who they are.

They also shared the tools that help, or have helped, them weather the storm: caring for others, reading, moving, continuing to dream, leaning on loved ones, and connecting with nature. This moment of sharing carried a depth that only being fully immersed in nature can bring. As they move forward in their stories, each one will likely carry a bit of everyone else’s wisdom in their little “happiness pack.”

Then came the time to hit the water again, paddles in hand. The rabaskas set off across choppy waves — swells, wind gusts, and rolling waters… an epic crossing where the group’s courage once again triumphed, powered by the strength of the collective and their love of adventure.

After lunch, it was time for a short nap on the beach. Everyone stretched out on the sand, soaking up the sun and recharging their energy. A lively little game helped us refocus and get ready to tackle the last few kilometers of the day’s paddle.

Before reaching our campsite for the night, there was this special moment — in a quiet little bay sheltered from the wind — when Rosemarie announced it was the perfect time to unwrap the surprise gift the Foundation had prepared for them. It’s amazing how much energy a bag of chips, some candy, and a bit of chocolate can bring in the middle of a rabaska trip!

Tonight, our campsite, nestled at the edge of a beautiful rocky bluff, will bear witness to the bonds woven over the past few days — uniting people who share a strength, resilience, and vitality we won’t soon forget.

And tonight, the sky will likely be dazzled by the stars shining in the eyes of these adventurers, as the echo of their determination continues to resonate across the cliffs of Poisson Blanc.
