«Hello, my name is Patrick Tardif. I am 22 years old and I come from Chateauguay, on the South Shore of Montreal.»
“This morning, we all climbed the rope ladder. While some of us were climbing, the others were doing knots, bracelets, or coasters. Around two o’clock, we weighed anchor and left Île aux Hérons to arrive at Campbellton around five or six.
I was real happy today. Our last day of sailing, not a sad day, but let’s say the end is near, which is sort of sad. Never mind, it was a super day for me. When I climbed the rope ladder. I was sure I couldn’t do it, but I got to the top rather rapidly. That was super.
I was convinced I could not do it as the soles of my feet are weak and I can stand on the top of my toes. Climbing a rope ladder, you must use the soles of your feet. I succeeded by placing the rope on the arch of my feet; that’s how I managed to climb. I realised I could trust my feet. They are strong enough and I can climb with relative ease.
My favourite part of the voyage was the group. We played games together. When we set sail, there was a bunch of us to hoist the sails. It was super. All together as a team. It’s great! They understand me and I understand them, all of them. It’s been only 8 days since we met, but the bond is very strong. A very special situation.
For a great return, I hope my family will welcome me and that they will want me to tell them about my trip. I want to tell them about my trip and what happened, how the watch system worked and all. I would like to be listened to.”
