"My name is David Larouche. I come from, I am from, and I live in Montreal. But I was born in Normandin, Lac St-Jean.»

«I am in tight quarters on a ship, because of the number of people. It is a complex situation that requires we be well organized

Every… Wow! Big waves (laughter). Everybody must look after himself; every thing must be properly stored, all must respect common areas. It also requires tolerance for the others. That’s about it; and, at this time, all is well. The crew and us live in mutual respect, all is well.

Highlights of the day: In fact, it was the first manifestations of the big waves. We raised the sails for the first time. What an experience in the big swells! We got drenched, a group shower, sort of. That’s about it, plus a surge of seasickness on board. That was our day, give or take.

Right now, I must admit I am a little queasy, but otherwise, I am very happy to be on board and live this moment. What an extraordinary experience!

I am happy. A little tired, but very happy to be on aboard the Rote Sand. That’s how I feel.

The company of others is a significant factor. We have lots of fun on board. For the rest, I don’t know. To see and learn new things every day helps the morale. It is quite pleasing to be in the company of the others, the ever smiling others.»
