Juste être dehors

Misty awakening. We come out of our tents, still asleep; the clouds have invaded the forest and hover among the trees.

Christopher reminds us how funny he was last night during the vegetable game. Inspired by our very successful late evening, we decide to spice up our morning. Chain hairstyling, burritos, slack line, and salsa courses. The festive Mexican atmosphere and coffee warm us up. There is no better way out of bed except maybe a good “Big Fat Pony”!

As usual, we start the day dancing and singing. The camp is dismantled, our luggage is ready and we leave our first site. The lake is a mirror, we see the sky, it’s beautiful! The mist disappeared and gave way to a perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold and wind almost absent. Our voyageur canoes have never moved so fast!

Short stop at Île Verte. Tanning break, walking, showing each other’s tattoos. As soon as we arrive, we have to get moving again. Next destination, a beautiful and huge beach on which we will have lunch and spend part of the afternoon.

The place is absolutely ideal! Rocks for the fishermen Larissa, Jemmy, Diego (who caught the first catch) and Janos; fine sand for Katy and Marie-Camille who play frisbee, and a cool shady spot for Justine who takes a moment alone to relax. Meanwhile, Marika, Serena, Christopher and Meriem have a swim, while Cindy swims around the island. The water is still very good and our fall afternoon suddenly turns into a vacation in the south. Our logisticians do a good job, the food is excellent. Soup, salad and fruit, we are satisfied!

Before returning to our 2nd camp site, we take the time to play the best game in the world: a 15-minute compulsory siesta in the sun! A well-deserved and overall very appreciated moment!

Resurrected and full of energy, we return to the water for our last paddle strokes of the day. Larissa is now captain and proud to be! Upon arriving at the site, her eyes were bright and she looked satisfied. Everyone seems to have enjoyed their day on the water and surpassed themselves one way or the other. They are proud, they are beautiful.

Tonight, we will have a good meal, and then we will spend the night together by the fire. The last evening on expedition is often magical and marked by unforgettable moments and touching discussions.

I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world.
