This morning, we left the hotel, the comfort, the city, and all its stimuli to come and soak up everything nature has to offer at its best… to disconnect in order to reconnect!
The bus ride between Montreal and the Poisson Blanc Reservoir allowed some to doze off, while others took the opportunity to chat and get to know each other.
Upon arriving at the reservoir, under a bright blue sky and a comforting sun, the official introductions took place with all the members of the expedition. It was at that moment that Marie-Michelle turned “logistique” into “Jellystick”! After these introductions, we set off for our first paddle strokes on the reservoir! The whitecaps were definitely part of the adventure, adding some spice to this first outing—but as we saw, the strength of a group lies in moving forward despite adversity!
In a small sheltered corner of the reservoir, protected from the wind and waves, we took a collective moment in our rabaskas to fully absorb all this beauty… the colorful leaves, the sound of the waves, the blowing wind, the smell of pine, and the sun warming our skin! It reminded us that nature has this unique power to bring the present moment to the forefront. Despite the challenges and fatigue of this first day, the participants gave one last effort to climb the stairs leading to the camp, their chests already swelling with pride!
As evening came, it was time for our first sharing circle, to voice everyone’s expectations, wishes, and hopes. Their clarity and resilience echoed across the entire Poisson Blanc territory, and I can assure you that the smiles seen today were larger than life! It’s a great sign for the big rabaska journey that awaits us tomorrow!
