At this point, we have all been reunited with our families and you are certainly all enjoying the little habits that you have missed. Your blogger is sitting comfortably on a real chair, the computer on a desk with... electricity and Internet. So here is the report of our last day as promised.
Having all slept in a dry place, waking up is more pleasant. Moreover, when we get out of our tents, we discover a fantastic view of the river. On the menu of the day: live dives at the Marine Environment Discovery Center located in Les Escoumins.
Upon arrival, we are greeted by Véronique who introduces us to the divers who will make a descent to more than 30 feet in the St. Lawrence estuary. When the naturalist and the cameraman dive into the water at 4 degrees, we head into the amphitheater in the warmth. The projector lights up, and we are suddenly twenty thousand places under the sea. We observe the richness of the rock face that the divers describe to us. The diversity and beauty of the flora is breathtaking. After more than an hour of observation, the divers, who were our eyes, come back up and are warmly applauded. In addition, the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park offers us lunch. Nothing less than crab and shrimp sandwiches. Long live the sea!
And it’s not over yet because in the afternoon, Gerard, the captain of the Marine Park’s research boat, invites us for a two-hour trip at sea. This time no paddle, we just have to let ourselves be rocked by the wave and to observe the whales. Luck smiles at us as we see a fin whale (the second largest mammal in the world) and some minke whales.
At the end of the day, it is the first departure. Francisca and Denis, our guides from Détour Nature, leave us for other adventures. The atmosphere is feverish and we understand that this is our last evening together. After the Helena meal, Virginie and JF award a merit to each one and propose to make the closing circle. Each one has thought of a word to sum up their adventure. All the participants are generous and explain the reason for this word. Jordon begins by saying loud and clear: – my word is CHANGE. The rest cannot be told because my eyes are all fogged up.
The blogging photographer ends by saying WE have all changed and grown. It was an honor to be your eyes and your pen and I will keep a memory in my heart of each of you.
