In spite of the sub-zero weather, everyone spent a warm knight in our down-filled sleeping bags. In the morning, the temperature differential between the air and the water provided for a wonderful vision on the green island lagoon. After our hefty breakfast around the campfire, we took some time to examine our map and evaluate our options for the coming day. Our community is very democratic. By majority vote, we decided to paddle around l’Ile Mystérieuse.

Before continuing on our adventure, we have to pack up our camp. Good teamwork ensured we were soon ready to enjoy the day. But, before boarding our rabaska, it was time to take the official group photo. The sun and our first paddle strokes warm us up and we take a short pause for a snack as we slowly drift on. We stop at the huge “Los Palmos” beach for our lunch break and take some time to sunbathe and play a few games of Ninja to stretch our legs. We continue on our adventure, with Jacob as leader, and complete our tour of the Île Mystérieuse before heading to our campsite for the night.

Setting up our campsite is easier and quicker tonight. Our young voyagers have enough energy to each light their own fire. The view from the point of land we have chosen is spectacular and we can enjoy it as we eat. Even after a succulent meal, there was still room for a piece of pie, or two, or three…

Before the evening ended in unbelievable fits of laughter during our endless game of cards, the participants shared on what they were most proud of, and what they enjoyed most about the expedition. There were some beautiful exchanges and many said they were happy to have made such wonderful friends. Our adventure is rapidly coming to an end, but there is still one beautiful day to spend together.
