Une année record pour le Double défi des deux Mario

Rio Tinto’s 10th edition of the Double défi des deux Mario was marked by a growing enthusiasm for this human adventure allowing participants to immerse themselves in the world of On the Tip of Toes Foundation.

Since 2008, the involvement of participants and generous sponsors such as Rio Tinto has enabled the Foundation to offer young people with cancer the opportunity to take part in free therapeutic adventure expeditions. This 10th edition raised no less than $ 187,000, a record amount for the event.

To this was added the arrival of a third crossing. Indeed, under the initiative of Dominique Genest of the Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes, the C-12 cohort of the école d’Entrepreneurship de Beauce donated $ 178,000 to the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation as part of the EEB / Special Edition C-12 presented by BMO and Mallette. The 41 participants arrived at the Village sur glace of Roberval on February 25th after completing the 3rd and last winter crossing of Lake Saint-Jean for the current year.

For Jean-Charles Fortin, Director of the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation, the C-12 Special Edition of the Double défi des deux Mario was a great success on many levels.

It was a first for the Foundation to offer to a group of entrepreneurs the opportunity to hold a private edition of our fundraising event. The success of this collaboration is undeniable and we hope that this initiative will encourage other companies or groups to follow in their steps.

For Dominique Genest, Executive Director Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes and the initiator of the project, this adventure made it possible for the C-12 cohort to have a rewarding community experience, in addition to networking with entrepreneurs from across the province and creating privileged links with partners. The group traveled more than 30km in three days on skis or snowshoe and had to deal with changing weather conditions that this winter challenge is famous for.

At the end of this special edition, the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation is pleased to have once again created a bridge between its mission and its fundraising activities. The 125 participants are now back in their communities, with an extraordinary experience and an awareness of what young people living with cancer do when they take part in an expedition with the Foundation.
