30 years of horizon

I’m Rachael Sawka, a spirited 31-year-old adventurer living in the stunning Yukon, where I embrace the great outdoors through fishing, camping, and whipping up delicious meals over the campfire. Life in the great outdoors fills my heart with joy and reminds me of the simple pleasures we often take for granted.

My story took a dramatic twist in 2016 when I was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of tumor that turned my life upside down. After enduring 25 rounds of radiation and 14 surgeries that felt like a bizarre reality show, I emerged with a new lease on life and a determination to make every moment count.

Through the incredible support of the Tip of the Toes Foundation, I was gifted a trip that reignited my spirit and showcased the beauty of life beyond illness. Those unforgettable memories showed me how vital it is to experience joy, adventure, and connection, even in the face of adversity.
